It looks like AMC might be getting ready to renew its Better Call Saul TV show for a fourth season. Spoiler TV reports that, according to Production Weekly, production on Better Call Saul, season four, has been scheduled to begin in November. The season three finale just aired on Monday, June 19th.
A Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito. The AMC TV series kicks off in the 2000s, when he was still down-on-his-luck Jimmy McGill — six years before Saul Goodman (Odenkirk) became Walter White’s lawyer.
Better Call Saul: A Look at the Ratings
The third season of Better Call Saul averaged a 0.59 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.64 million viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 34% and down by 24%, respectively.
We’ve been tracking 12 scripted AMC TV shows during the 2016-17 television season. When we sort them by their numbers in the 18-49 year old demographic, Better Call Saul ranks fifth. Similarly, in terms of its total audience size, it ranks sixth. So, while Better Call Saul isn’t burning up the Nielsens, it’s still a solid performer for AMC.
Additionally, AMC is already down a few shows. Feed the Beast was cancelled after one season. Hell on Wheels ended its five season run, last July. Turn: Washington’s Spies just began its fourth and final season on June 17th. And when Halt and Catch Fire returns, it will be for its fourth and final season, as well.
What’s more, earlier this week, we reported EP Gennifer Hutchison has no plan as of yet, on how Better Call Saul will end. She said they are hopeful for a renewal from AMC. While scheduling production is no guarantee, it is a positive sign, so hopefully, we’ll have news sooner, rather than later.
