Last year, the Better Things TV show on FX premiered in the fall, and received an early renewal about halfway into its sophomore installment, but its demo numbers dropped, although average total audience size didn’t change much. Now that it is back in the mid-season for a third season, can it expect better things where the Nielsen Ratings are concerned? Will Better Things be cancelled or renewed for season four? An FX black comedy, Better Things revolves around Sam Fox (Adlon), a working actor in Los Angeles. The FX cast also includes Mikey Madison, Hannah Alligood, Olivia Edward, Celia Imrie, Rebecca Metz, and Alysia Reiner. Sam is a divorced woman without a filter, who’s just trying to raise her three daughters — teenager Max (Madison), eccentric Frankie (Alligood) and spicy Duke (Edward). She also has to keep an eye out on her mother, Phil (Imrie). Sam fills the roles of dad, referee, and the cops, as well. She just wants to find a little time to live her own life, too.
In the changing world of television, TV execs look at many factors when deciding to renew or cancel a show. However, the ratings are still very important. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The second season of Better Things on FX averaged a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and a total audience of 459,000 viewers.
