What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on Freeform, the Beyond TV show follows a young man named Holden Matthews (Burkely Duffield). After waking from a 12 year coma, Holden learns the world has changed since he went to sleep. In addition, he finds he is a very different person as well and is now at the center of a dangerous conspiracy. The cast also includes Michael McGrady, Romy Rosemont, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn, and Jeff Pierre.  

Season One Ratings

Telly’s Take

Freeform tried a different strategy with its new Beyond TV show. It released the whole season of 10 episodes online, after only two episodes aired on cable television. Eight days after the season premiere, Freeform renewed Beyond for season two. In the renewal announcement, Freeform said, “In its first week alone, Beyond has already amassed over 14 million views, including 7.0 million across digital platforms and reaching an additional 7.2 million Total Viewers on linear TV.” It sounds like the new release approach, which included limited ads on the streaming platform, has worked for this new drama series. It will be interesting to see if Freeform follows the same strategy for season two.
