The US version of the Big Brother franchise has become ensconced as a summertime tradition. Now CBS has introduced a new spin-off — the Big Brother: Celebrity Edition TV show. Can it live up to or even beat out the Tiffany Network’s original series, or will its star quickly fade? Will Big Brother: Celebrity Edition be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A competitive reality TV series hosted by Julie Chen, the entire first season of Big Brother: Celebrity Edition will roll out over the course of three weeks. Shannon Elizabeth, Brandi Glanville, Ariadna Gutiérrez, Chuck Liddell, James Maslow, Ross Mathews, Mark McGrath, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Metta World Peace (aka Ron Artest), and Omarosa Manigault are competing in season one on CBS. As in the original series, these “stars” will live together in a house fitted with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones to capture all the action. Each week, one or more of the celebrity “Houseguests” will be voted out. The last Houseguest standing will win the grand prize of $250,000.00.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
