What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the HBO premium channel, Big Little Lies stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper, and Jeffrey Nordling. The cast also includes Kathryn Newton, Cameron Crovetti, Nicholas Crovetti, Chloe Coleman, Ivy George, and Iain Armitage. Based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name, the Big Little Lies TV show is a dark, comedic drama following five Monterey families: the MacKenzies, the Wrights, the Carlsons, the Kleins, and the Chapmans. The mothers (Witherspoon, Kidman, Woodley, Dern, and Kravitz) work themselves silly to present a picture of perfect family life, that is truly just a mirage. HBO says Big Little Lies is, “a tale of murder and mischief” which “explores society’s myth of perfection and the contradictions that exist beneath our idealized façade of marriage, sex, parenting and friendship.”
 

Season One Ratings

Telly’s Take

This TV series has some big stars in its cast but it’s already been decided that there will only be seven episodes. If there’s enough interest in the series, perhaps they could be persuaded to make a follow up of some kind? It seems unlikely but, you never know. I’ll keep watching.
