Brilliant Minds fans won’t see more of the series for a bit. NBC has pulled the medical drama series from its schedule until later this spring or possibly this summer. Six episodes are left in the series’ second season. Coupled with low ratings, this move doesn’t bode well for the possibility of a third season.
According to Deadline, the network has extended The Voice from one hour to two hours on Monday nights, starting with its February 23rd premiere. This season will see a new format with a Battle of Champions bringing Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine back together for the first time since season 16.
Zachary Quinto, Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, Brian Altemus, John Clarence Stewart, and Al Calderon star in the NBC medical drama, which follows Dr. Oliver Wolf (Quinto), a gifted neurologist who suffers from a rare condition.
Airing on Monday nights, the second season of Brilliant Minds averages a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.87 million viewers (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM, including some Fast Affiliate data). Compared to season one, that’s down by 40% in the demo and down by 37% in viewership. It’s NBC’s lowest-rated series in the demo and one of the network’s least-watched shows overall.
The series’ 14th episode aired this week. A return date is expected to be released sometime in the spring.
What do you think? Do you enjoy this NBC medical drama? Do you hope it is renewed for a third season?
