Complications: Cancelled by USA; No Season Two

Complications TV show on USA Network: canceled, no season 2The doctor is out. There won’t be a second season of the Complications TV show. USA Network has decided to cancel the drama series after one season of 10 episodes.

Complications follows a disillusioned suburban doctor (Jason O’Mara) who’s still dealing with the emotional effects of his young daughter’s death from cancer. He unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a 12-year-old boy’s life. The rest of the cast includes Jessica Szohr, Lauren Stamile, Chris Chalk, Beth Riesgraf, and RonReaco Lee.

The series got off to a lackluster start in the ratings in late June with a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.91 million viewers. Viewership saw a big drop in week two and remained pretty poor for the rest of the season. The 10 episodes ended up averaging a 0.35 in the demo with 1.44 million.

Except for Suits, all of USA’s existing dramas have been way down year-to-year and none of their new ones have been a hit in the ratings (including Mr. Robot).

Despite Complications’ ratings challenges, USA was still considering bringing the show back for a second season. Deadline reports that execs had secured a four-day extension on the cast contracts while they made their final decision. Execs tried to work out an economically feasable deal with Fox 21 TV Studios for a second season but, in the end, it didn’t happen.

The final episode of Complications aired on August 13th.

What do you think? Did you like the Complications TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled? Would you have watched a second season, perhaps on another channel?
