Cops fans will see the iconic series return in a new form. The Law&Crime cable channel has ordered Cops Reloaded, a new series of clips from the reality show’s extensive programming library. The series will comprise 158 episodes featuring “some of the most memorable suspects, car chases and action-packed moments from the long-running series Cops.”
Cops debuted in March 1989 on the fledgling FOX network and follows city police officers and sheriff’s deputies as they go on patrol, serve arrest/search warrants, and take part in stings. The show continued on FOX and became the network’s longest-running series.
It was cancelled by FOX in 2013 but was revived by Spike TV (later renamed Paramount Network) where Cops ran for five more seasons. It was cancelled in 2020 in the wake of the protests following the murder of George Floyd. The production company resumed production later that year to fulfill overseas contracts. In September 2021, it was announced that the Fox Nation video on demand service had revived the show. Cops’ 34th season is currently being released on Friday nights.
Law&Crime president Rachel Stockman said the following about the new series, per Variety:
Cops Reloaded is the perfect addition to our content library. We have a robust and rapidly growing fanbase that’s highly interested in content surrounding law enforcement so we are eager to continue to deliver them more of what they want to see.
A premiere date for Cops Reloaded will be announced later.
