Dexter left Showtime after eight seasons two years ago, but fans started buzzing about a potential revival for the series over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The rumors of a revival began after the Dexter Official Twitter account sent out a Thanksgiving tweet with an image that said “his knife’s freshly sharpened.” Fans immediately began to talk on social media about the post and the fact that Dexter was coming back to television.

The rumors ended up going viral over the weekend, and Showtime decided to squash the rumor completely on Monday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime made it clear that there are no plans to bring back Dexter anytime soon.
It is not complete impossibility though. David Nevins spoke with the press in 2014, and a revival had been talked about at that point. That was the last time it was mentioned though.
