Dexter left Showtime after eight seasons two years ago, but fans started buzzing about a potential revival for the series over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The rumors of a revival began after the Dexter Official Twitter account sent out a Thanksgiving tweet with an image that said “his knife’s freshly sharpened.” Fans immediately began to talk on social media about the post and the fact that Dexter was coming back to television.

The rumors ended up going viral over the weekend, and Showtime decided to squash the rumor completely on Monday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime made it clear that there are no plans to bring back Dexter anytime soon.
It is not complete impossibility though. David Nevins spoke with the press in 2014, and a revival had been talked about at that point. That was the last time it was mentioned though.

I would love to se it return. They have to fix that ending.
I’d be VERY interested in seeing a revival of DEXTER, mostly so the show runners could fix the terrible mess they made of the series finale. I was disappointed with much of Season 8 and the finale was the final kick in the crotch. Michael C. Hall and all the other actors involved deserved much better, especially since the show runners had a two-year Showtime renewal with which to plan for the end. Bring Dex back and give him the send-off he deserves!!
In a heartbeat I would join with the multitudes to watch Dexter. I watch very little TV anymore as all the shows I like are not there to watch.

OMG, if only this was true! I have missed this series since it ended! The ending with him surviving the hurricane left that door open for a return! BRING DEXTER BACK!!!
