FBI: Most Wanted is losing one of its regulars ahead of its fifth season premiere. Alexa Davalos (above, right) will not return as a series regular next season. The news may shock series viewers because there was no hint that Davalos was leaving the series in the season four finale. It sounds like it was a surprise for the actor as well.

Dylan McDermott, Roxy Sternberg, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Edwin Hodge also star in the CBS series, which follows those that work in the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force.

Davalos joined the series as Special Agent Kristin Gaines at the start of season three as a replacement for Kellan Lutz. According to one report, a producer informed Davalos that she wouldn’t be back for season five after filming her final scene of season four. The conversation and her departure were reportedly amicable.

This is the latest of several departures from the series. In addition to Lutz, series regulars Miguel Gomez, YaYa Gosselin, Nathaniel Arcand, and Julian McMahon have all left the show over the past four seasons. As with all Wolf Entertainment series, cast turnover is often driven by financial and/or creative reasons.

It is unknown when the series will return (due to the ongoing actors and writers strikes) or if Davalos will return to wrap up her character’s arc, per Deadline. Season five has not yet been written due to the current WGA strike.

The premiere date for FBI: Most Wanted season five will be announced later.

What do you think? Are you sad to hear that Davalos is leaving FBI: Most Wanted? Do you hope that she returns to wrap up her character’s storyline?
