Where you lead, we will follow. And it looks like we’ll be following Gilmore Girls to Netflix, as the streaming service is looking to revive the popular series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fans of the mother-daughter dramedy have been calling for a revival since the show’s cancellation in 2007. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino left the series early and the last season received mixed reviews. Now, interest in the show has increased since Netflix began streaming all seven seasons last October and the cast reunited at the Austin Television Festival this summer.
Created by Sherman-Palladino in 2000, the series centers on Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, a mother-daughter pair gifted with gab who live in a quirky small town called Stars Hollow. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel played the leads alongside a vast supporting cast that included Scott Patterson, Jared Padalecki, and Melissa McCarthy.
The series will not return full time. Instead, Netflix has plans to produce four, 90-minute movies as a limited run, with plans to begin production early next year.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Gilmore Girls? Do you want a revival? What would you like to see happen when the series returns?
