What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Goldbergs follows a Jenkintown, Pennsylvania family living through the 1980s. Youngest son Adam (Sean Giambrone) videotapes his family’s craziness and provides commentary as an adult (Patton Oswalt). Wendi McLendon-Covey, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, George Segal, and Jeff Garlin also star, as the rest of Goldberg family.

The fourth season of The Goldbergs averaged a 1.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.08 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 14% in the demo and down by 8% in viewership. Learn how The Goldbergs stacks up against the other ABC TV shows.

Telly’s Take
I think fans of The Goldbergs have nothing to worry about. While the sitcom has slipped somewhat in the ratings, it is still one of ABC best performing shows. In addition, back in December, the network ordered extra episodes for the current fourth season. The show is doing so well that Adam F. Goldberg is developing a 1990s-set spin-off for The Alphabet Network, with EP Marc Firek. Barring some unforeseen catastrophe, I fully expect ABC to renew The Goldbergs for season five. It seems I must search for sustenance, elsewhere.
5/11 update: ABC has renewed The Goldbergs for two years — seasons five and six. Details here.
