Happy Endings, Wilfred: Script Supervisor Tracy Scott Dies at 46

TV series and feature film script supervisor, Tracy Scott, is dead at the age of 46. Earlier today, Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison announced Ms. Scott died of cancer. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the death with her brother Michael. Reportedly, Scott was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She more recently developed liver cancer.

Scott worked on TV series including Happy Endings, Wilfred, True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, and Standoff. She also served as script supervisor on the Veronica Mars movie sequel to the series, starring Kristen Bell.

Among Scott’s additional TV credits are: Switched at Birth, Parks and Recreation, Scoundrels, Emily’s Reasons Why Not, and Worst Week.

A script or “continuity” supervisor ensures props, wardrobe, hair and makeup, set dressing, and performances maintain continuity. The script supervisor represents informs, coordinates, and updates a project’s editors, writers, director, and director of photography.

According to Deadline, Scott worked with Ellison on the feature films Joy, Foxcatcher, American Hustle, and Her. Scott’s other numerous film credits include: Concussion, Black Mass, The Gambler, Whiplash, and The Help.

Writer, producer, director, and actor, Jason Reitman, also remembered Ms. Scott. He tweeted, “It’s a profound bond, director & script supervisor. We share the monitor & much more. My thoughts & prayers are w/ the family of Tracy Scott.”

 

 

According to THR, Ms. Scott was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She grew up in in Toledo, Ohio. Scott attended Ohio’s Miami University and Nashville’s Watkins College of Art, Design & Film. She died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at her parents’ Lady Lake, Florida home. May she rest in peace.
