What’s This TV Show About?

An OWN soap opera crime thriller, The Haves and the Have Nots stars Tika Sumpter, Crystal Fox, Renee Lawless, Tyler Lepley, Aaron, Peter Parros, Angela Robinson, Gavin Houston, John Schneider, Brett Davis, Presilah Nunez, and Nick Sagar. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family of Savannah, Georgia and their hired help. Season five kicks off with everyone dealing with the fallout of scandal, including some life or death consequences.
 

Season Five Ratings

The fifth season of The Haves and the Have Nots averaged a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.90 million viewers. Compared to season four, it’s down by 38% and 25%, respectively. Find how The Haves and the Have Nots stacks up against other OWN TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

By the end of season five, The Haves and the Have Nots will have 151 episodes which is more than enough for a syndication package. While the show is still a high-rated series for OWN, the 44 episode order for season five makes me nervous. It’s not uncommon for cable channels to order lots of episodes for a later season so they don’t have to renegotiate contracts before calling it quits. 1/8/19 update: Our contact at OWN tells us that there are 11 episodes remaining in season five (bringing the total to 44 episodes) and that season six will air later in 2019.
