Homeland: Season Seven Ratings

Homeland TV show on Showtime: season 7 ratings (cancel or renew season 8?)

(Showtime)

Since the Homeland TV show has already been renewed through its eighth season, fans don’t have to spend this year worrying if it will be cancelled. As one of Showtime’s top ratings earners, that wouldn’t have been too much of a concern, even without the early renewal. Earlier this month, the cable network’s programming president, Gary Levine, indicated the end could still be a long way off, but in 2017, showrunner Alex Ganza said he was working toward wrapping up the series with season eight. Will the success of the seventh season change that? Stay tuned.

A political spy thriller, Homeland stars Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, Elizabeth Marvel, Linus Roache, Maury Sterling, and Jake Weber. Morgan Spector joins the Showtime cast as a series regular this year. After an assassination attempt, last season ended with President Keane (Marvel) breaking her promise to Carrie (Danes) and arresting 200 members of the intelligence community – among them, Saul Berenson (Patinkin). When season seven kicks off, Carrie has exited her White House job and is living with her sister Maggie (Amy Hargreaves) in DC. Now, she plans to take on the administration and fight for the release of the 200.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The sixth season of Homeland averaged a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.276 million total viewers.
