In the Dark: Season Two Renewal Announced for CW Comedy-Drama Series

In the Dark TV show on The CW: season 2 renewal for the 2018-19 seasonWill Murphy get her life together? Well, The CW is going to give her more time. The network has renewed their In the Dark TV show for a second season. It will air as part of the 2019-20 broadcast season.

A comedy-drama, In the Dark stars Perry Mattfeld, Rich Sommer, Brooke Markham, Casey Deidrick, Keston John, Morgan Krantz, Thamela Mpumlwana, Derek Webster, and Kathleen York. The story follows a hard-drinking blind woman who smokes, Murphy Mason (Mattfield). When she stumbles upon the body of a drug-dealing kid, Tyson (Mpumlwana), who once saved her from a mugger, Dean Riley (Sommer) and the other cops find her drunken account less than convincing and nobody in sight. Frustrated and heart-broken, Murphy, her guide dog, Pretzel, and best friend, Jess Damon (Markham), set out to uncover the truth about Tyson’s fate. Murphy will do whatever it takes — even if that means setting down her drink.

The first season of In the Dark is averaging a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 759,000 viewers. Only three episodes have aired thus far.

Today, the network also renewed Roswell, New Mexico (season two), All American (season two), and The 100 (season seven) for the 2019-20 season. They join previously renewed series Arrow (eighth and final season), Charmed (season two), Black Lightning (season three), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season five), Dynasty (season three), The Flash (season six), Legacies (season two), Riverdale (season four), Supergirl (season five), and Supernatural (15th and final season).

“As we begin to plan for the 2019-2020 season, we’re thrilled to have this roster of 14 exceptionally creative and distinctive series, including all five first year shows, as the foundation on which to continue to build the multiplatform future of The CW,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “One of our key long-term goals has been to continually add more original programming all year round, especially in midseason and summer, and with these returning shows and the new series we’ll order as we get closer to the May upfront, next season on The CW is shaping up to be our most robust year round schedule yet.”
