Did Instinct steal a story from another TV show? Recently, showrunner Michael Rauch apologized for a recent episode of the CBS series, Deadline reports.
The crime thriller centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Alan Cumming), a former CIA operative who is lured out of his peaceful retirement as a university professor and author, to help NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic) catch a serial killer. The cast also includes Daniel Ings, Naveen Andrews, and Sharon Leal.
A recent episode of Instinct, which investigated the murder of an Amish teenager, apparently bore too close a resemblance to an episode of the FOX series Bones. The episode in question, 2009’s “The Plain in the Prodigy,” also centered on the murder of an Amish teenager and featured similar clues and conclusions.
Instinct showrunner Miahcel Rauch apologized for the incident, saying the similarity was “unintentional” and he’s looking into how this happened:
Yeah, heard about this. Very distressing and 100% unintentional. Looking into it and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again. And of course apologies to Bones (and their fans).”
