Deadline reports Brett Donahue has been cast as John Kennedy Jr. in The Kennedys — After Camelot TV show. The mini-series is Reelz and Muse Entertainment’s sequel to the 2011 mini-series, The Kennedys. President John F. Kennedy, Sr. was buried on November 25, 1963, his son John-John’s third birthday.
In The Kennedys — After Camelot, Katie Holmes reprises her role of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, from the original mini-series. Also returning for the sequel are Diana Hardcastle and Kristin Booth, as Rose and Ethel Kennedy, respectively. Matthew Perry has been cast as Ted Kennedy. The Kennedys — After Camelot TV series cast also includes Alexander Siddig as Aristotle Onasis and Kristen Hager as Joan Kennedy.
A Canadian actor, Donahue plays Peter Quince in The Other Kingdom TV show on Nickelodeon. Reign fans may recognize him as Lord Aris. He has also had guest roles on the Republic of Doyle, Suits, Beauty and the Beast, and Nikita TV series.
Per Reelz, The Kennedys – After Camelot project was brought to Muse Entertainment by Keri Selig of Intuition Productions, who serves as an executive producer. JFK Jr. once played a fictional version of himself in the 1995 Murphy Brown TV show episode, “Altered States,” starring Candice Bergen. On July 16, 1999, John F. Kennedy, Jr. died while flying to Martha’s Vineyard, MA, to attend the wedding of his cousin, Rory Kennedy. His wife his Carolyn and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette also perished in the crash.
The upcoming mini-series, which began production in May, is based on J. Randy Taraborrelli’s book, After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present.
