What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, Lady Dynamite stars Maria Bamford, Ana Gasteyer, Fred Melamed, Mary Kay Place, Mo Collins, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Bridget Everett, Lennon Parham, Yimmy Yin, Dean Cain, and Ed Begley, Jr. The comedy is loosely inspired by the experiences of star Maria Bamford. Netflix describes it as, “…the story of a woman who loses — and then finds — her s**t.” Set in Los Angeles, the sitcom is a sometimes surreal look at several different periods in the actor and standup comic’s life. Even as she is making strides forward, Maria contemplates her recent mental breakdown. During those dark days, she ended up back in Duluth, Minnesota at the home of her parents, Marilyn and Joel (Place and Begley). Now, she considers whether her ambitions are at odds with a happy life.
On January 13, 2018, Lady Dynamite was cancelled. Could it return in some form? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless and until they decide to publicize viewership, it is hard to predict whether Netflix will cancel or renew Lady Dynamite for season three. I’ll keep an eye on this series though, and update this page with any developments. Subscribe for free updates on Lady Dynamite cancellation or renewal news.
1/13 update: Netflix has cancelled Lady Dynamite two months after the second season premiered. There will be no season three. The details are here, but I must fly. It’s time for me to feast.
