Mad Men: Weiner Donates Draper’s Office to TV Museum

Mad Men TV show on AMC

Do you find yourself looking forward to a new season of AMC‘s Mad Men, even though the series was effectively cancelled when it ended with season seven? Do you have to remind yourself that there will be no Mad Men season eight? Do you like to imagine yourself sitting behind Don Drapers’s desk, with a glass of amber liquor?

Your Mad Men fantasies are one step closer to (and likely a velvet rope away from) reality. Creator Matthew Weiner has donated Draper’s office set to the future Museum of Television of Los Angeles. The cast of Mad Men includes: Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Kiernan Shipka, Christopher Stanley, Alison Brie, Robert Morse, and John Slattery. Continue on for more about the fate of this iconic TV set.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Series creator Matthew Weiner has donated the entire workspace to the future Museum of Television of Los Angeles, which also will house artifacts from such shows as The Sopranos, Lost and Dexter.

Says museum director James Comisar, who is looking for a permanent location: “We believe Mad Men objects will resonate with video watchers for decades going forward. Matthew Weiner made sure every piece of wardrobe and set decoration was historically perfect, and from the first email he articulated a great passion for preservation.”

What do you think? Do you wish Mad Men would return for season eight, or did the series bow at the right time? Once the museum finds a home, do you plan to visit it? Please let us know.
