What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the ABC television network, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD picks up with the organization no longer needing to operate in the shadows with the world presuming that Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is dead. As a result, a new Director (Jason O’Mara) is named and Coulson is teamed with Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) to track down and confirm the presence of Inhumans. The rest of the cast includes Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, John Hannah, and Gabriel Luna.
 

Season Four Ratings

The fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.35 million viewers. Compared to the third season, that’s down by 37% in the demo and down by 32% in viewership. Check out Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’s performance against the other ABC TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

The network surely had big expectations for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD but the series has never been a hit and the ratings have fallen each season. The numbers for this ABC series have hit some new lows in 2017. The studio has enough episodes for syndication and a replacement Marvel series in the pipeline so it seems like they could let this one go. I don’t expect to see a fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD but ABC may renew it because having it on the air supports the Marvel brand (which is also owned by Disney).
