It was a great second week for New Girl. Building on the the Glee lead-in, the episode attracted a strong 4.5 in the demo with 9.28 million. That was a decline of just 6% episode-to-episode and it was still enough to win the timeslot.
Season average: 4.7 demo with 9.78 million.

Episode 01-01: Tuesday, 9/20/11
The sitcom debuted to a very healthy 4.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.28 million viewers. It won its timeslot and built on the season premiere of its Glee lead-in by 20%. Also, Deschanel and company retained and actually built on their audience as the half-hour progressed. This was a very good premiere.


Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
