The Night Shift: Would You Watch Season Four?

The Night Shift TV show on NBC: canceled or renewed for season 4?Tonight marks the the third season finale of The Night Shift on NBC. The series has beaten the cancellation odds in the past and been renewed. Should it return for a fourth season?

The Night Shift revolves around the quirky but devoted staffmembers of San Antonio Memorial Hospital who work from dusk til dawn. This season, the cast of the medical drama includes Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Robert Bailey Jr., Brendan Fehr, JR Lemon, Scott Wolf, and Tanaya Beatty.

This season, Night Shift opened to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.81 million viewers. The numbers have gone up and down over the course of the season but have remained fairly steady. Season four is currently averaging a 1.0 in the demo with 4.96 million.

While the season is down by 24% in the demo, it’s down just 6% in viewers. Still, aside from Aquarius (which was recently shipped to Saturday nights), Night Shift is NBC’s lowest-rated series of the summer.

Despite the decline in ratings, I suspect that the show will be renewed for a fourth season. A 1.0 in the demo isn’t bad for a summer series these days but we’ll have to wait and see.

But, what do you think? Do you think the The Night Shift should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
