One Piece is returning to Netflix for a second season. The streaming service has renewed the live-action adventure series based on the anime of the same name. Those behind the series at Tomorrow Studios had revealed that they had season two scripts ready to go once the current strikes end. The series was created by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda.

Starring Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, Morgan Davies, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skylar, the live-action series is set in a world where pirates and marines fight over control of the Blue Sea.

The story follows Monkey D. Luffy (Godoy), a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom for as long as he can remember. Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, “One Piece”, to become King of the Pirates. But, in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy needs to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast blue seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.

The series’ renewal is unsurprising since it’s been very successful for the streamer. It’s been the most-watched series on Netflix since it debuted on August 31st.

Series executive producer and creator of the original 1997 manga, Eiichiro Oda, announced the renewal of One Piece via video.

A premiere date and information about season two will be released in the future.
