Fans of Quantico are in for some good news. ABC has renewed the TV show for a third season but there will be just 13 episodes this time around.
The drama follows Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), a former FBI agent who now works for the CIA. The cast also includes Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Russell Tovey, and Blair Underwood.
After a breakout first season, Quantico dropped considerably in the ratings for season two. Overall, the season averaged a 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.80 million viewers. For comparison, season one earned an average rating of 1.24 in the 18-49 demo and 4.34 million viewers. That’s a near 50% dip in the ratings from season one to two.
Nevertheless, ABC has decided to give Quantico another chance, possibly due to lucrative streaming and international deals and the fact that lead Priyanka Chopra is a global star.
Meanwhile, Quantico creator and executive producer Josh Safran will step down as showrunner on the series. A search is underway for a new showrunner and Safran will remain with the show as a consultant.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Quantico? Are you glad it’s been renewed? Will you watch season three?
1/8/18 update: Season three of Quantico will debut on ABC on April 26, 2018. Details here.
