Although the Pitch TV show has not yet been cancelled or renewed for a second season, Mark Consuelos, who plays GM Oscar Arguella on the FOX baseball drama, has taken a series regular role in second season of The CW’s Riverdale TV series. Of course, if Pitch gets a season two renewal, it has first dibs on the former All My Children star.

Provided Pitch is cancelled, Consuelos will play Hiram Lodge, father of Riverdale‘s Veronica (Camila Mendes). An edgy, modern adaptation of the Archie comics, The CW series also stars K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Marisol Nichols, Luke Perry, and Casey Cott.

What’s the Catch: Can Consuelos Ditch Pitch for Riverdale?

Here’s more from TV Line:

Hiram Lodge, per the show’s official description, is “a ruthless, handsome, charismatic businessman who is coming back to Riverdale after weathering a financial scandal that almost destroyed him. He is there to reconnect with his wife Hermione and, especially, his daughter Veronica, who is the apple of his eye.” We haven’t seen Hiram on the show yet, since he’s been in jail awaiting trial for his involvement in a Bernie Madoff-esque embezzlement scheme. But it sounds like he beats the rap and comes home to make Veronica’s life even more complicated.

There is a catch, though: Consuelos currently co-stars on FOX’s baseball drama Pitch as general manager Oscar Arguella, and his Riverdale casting is in second position to Pitch, so he’d have to drop the Riverdale role if Pitch is renewed for a second season.

Kelly Ripa’s husband is in demand these days. Earlier this month, we reported Consuelos is joining the fourth season of The Night Shift on NBC. He will recur as Cain, a Mexican nurse who emigrated to the USA. He also has a role on USA Network‘s Queen of the South.

In addition, Consuelos and Ripa executive produce the Fire Island reality series for Logo. The two met in the mid ’90s, when they starred as Hayley and Mateo, on the now cancelled ABC soap opera, All My Children.

What do you think? Are you a Mark Consuelos fan? Will he make a good Hiram Lodge in Riverdale on The CW? Let us know, below.
