Scorpion: Fourth Season Ordered by CBS for 2017-18

Scorpion TV show on CBS: season 4This team of geeks and misfits is sticking together. CBS has renewed the Scorpion TV show for a fourth season which will air as part of the 2017-18 broadcast season.

Airing on the CBS television network, Scorpion revolves around computer expert Walter O’Brien (Elyes Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits. They’re this country’s last line of defense against complex, high-tech threats. The quirky masterminds have found the perfect job: a place where they can apply their exceptional brainpower to solve the nation’s crises, while also helping each other learn how to fit in. The series also stars Robert Patrick, Katharine McPhee, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Riley B. Smith.

Season three kicked off in October 2016 and 20 installments have aired so far. Ratings-wise, Scorpion is averaging a 1.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.26 million viewers. Year-to-year, that’s down by 31% in the demo and down by 25% in viewers. To be fair, the show did shift to a later timeslot.

With these declines, Scorpion is currently in the middle of the pack among CBS’ other current scripted series. The renewal isn’t a surprise, however. It’s co-produced by CBS Television Studios and a fourth season will give the series plenty of episodes for a syndication package. Could season four be the end? We’ll have to wait and see.

What do you think? Do you like the Scorpion TV show on CBS? Are you glad that it’s been renewed for a fourth season? Should it have been cancelled instead?
