Shark Tank: Season Nine; ABC Makes Deal for 2017-18 Season

Shark Tank TV show on ABC: season 9It looks like the savvy sharks have sealed another deal. As expected, ABC has renewed their Shark Tank TV show for a ninth season which will air as part of the 2017-18 broadcast season. In season nine, the show is expected to reach and surpass the 200th episode mark.

On Shark Tank, entrepreneurs seek investments from a group of savvy (and sometimes cutthroat) millionaires. The regular “sharks” are Robert Herjavec, Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Mark Cuban, and Lori Greiner.

In season eight, Shark Tank has averaged a 1.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.23 million viewers. Year-to-year, that’s down by 16% in the demo and 10% in total viewers. Most broadcast shows have seen their ratings drop as more and more viewers shift to DVR and online viewing. The series continues to be one of ABC’s highest-rated unscripted series. That’s particularly impressive considering it airs on Friday nights.

We know that work on season nine is already underway since we reported that nationwide auditions had been announced back in March. Still, it’s nice for fans to know that a deal for season nine has been officially sealed.

What do you think? Do you like the Shark Tank TV show? Will you be watching season nine? Do you typically watch “live” or some time later?
