Once upon a time, ABC’s Shark Tank TV show was barely treading the white waters which are the Nielsen ratings. As this business competition enters its ninth season though, it is truly swimming with the current. Last season, it was one of the Alphabet Network‘s top-three unscripted series (fourth, if you count both the spring and fall cycles of Dancing with the Stars). Now, it is moving it from its cozy Friday timeslot, to Sundays — which has been a tough night for the network to nail. Does this have the makings of a successful scheduling strategy? Will Shark Tank be cancelled or renewed for season 10? Stay tuned.
An ABC reality TV series, Shark Tank features entrepreneurs seeking investments from a group of savvy, wealthy investors who are “self-made” tycoons. These regular “sharks” are Robert Herjavec, Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Mark Cuban, and Lori Greiner. They offer everyday people a shot at American dream and the possibility of striking business deals beyond their wildest dreams. **Status update below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/26 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Last year comparison: The eighth season of Shark Tank averaged a 1.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.181 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Shark Tank TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a 10th season on ABC?
