Single Drunk Female viewers will see a mini Breakfast Club reunion during the second season of the Freeform comedy series. Molly Ringwald will guest in an episode alongside Ally Sheedy, her co-star in the classic 1985 film.
Also starring Sofia Black-D’Elia, Rebecca Henderson, Sasha Compère, Lily Mae Harrington, and Garrick Bernard, Single Drunk Female follows a woman (Black-D’Elia) who has a very public drunken meltdown. She’s fired from her job, and to stay out of jail, she must stay sober and move in with her bossy mother (Sheedy).
EW revealed the following about Ringwald’s role in the Freeform series:
As for Ringwald, she’s set to play Alice, Carol’s wry, witty, “perfect” sister-in-law and Sam’s favorite aunt. Alice always does things slightly better than Carol, just enough to get under her skin, and Sam idolizes her.
Sheedy told EW, “Molly is such a meaningful friend to me and we’ve only grown closer over the years. I delight in her company so working on our episode together was a joy. And I think she’s brilliant… so there’s that! Very grateful for her work on our show.”
Single Drunk Female will return in early 2023, but an exact premiere date has not yet been set.
