SMILF: Season Two Ratings

SMILF TV show on Showtime: season 2 ratings (canceled or renewed season 3?)

In its first season on Showtime, the SMILF TV show ranked in the top half of the premium cable network’s scripted TV series. This year, the comedy returns for its second season, while the studio (ABC Signature) investigates allegations that the production has mishandled sex scenes and run afoul of certain industry standards. Will this show turn out to be more trouble than it is worth? Will SMILF be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

A semi-autobiographical series starring creator, writer, and director Frankie Shaw, SMILF also stars Rosie O’Donnell and Miguel Gomez. In season two, the Showtime cast also includes Samara Weaving, Connie Britton, Raven Goodwin, Melanie Griffith, Sherie Rene Scott, Claudia O’Doherty, Ari Graynor, and Stormy Daniels. The story centers on Bridgette Bird (Shaw), a working class, South Boston single mother, who is striving to provide a better life for her son, Larry Bird (named for the former Boston Celtics player). In the second season, Bridgette continues the search for her own father and tries to spread her wings beyond the streets of Southie.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
