An FX period crime drama, Snowfall stars Damson Idris, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Michael Hyatt, Amin Joseph, Angela Lewis, Isaiah John, Juan Javier Cárdenas, Alon Moni Aboutboul, Malcolm Mays, and Filipe Valle Costa. The story kicks off in 1983 Los Angeles, at the dawn of the crack cocaine epidemic. It centers on several diverse characters, from an L.A. family, to a Nicaraguan Contra soldier, a sidelined CIA Agent, an Israeli expat, and a Mexican crime family. Expect these characters to crash into each other’s lives in a brutal fashion.

Telly’s Take
Because it is too early to assess the ratings to predict if FX will cancel or renew Snowfall for season two, let’s look at what we do know. The series premiered to positive numbers. The California Film Commission has already awarded the production a tax credit for season two, so Snowfall is well-positioned for renewal. In addition, it comes from filmmaker John Singleton, which lends the program a certain cachet. And at first glance, Snowfall seems to be a good fit with FX’s edgy slate. For now, I’ll make other dinner plans, while keeping a hungry eye on the ratings, just in case. Subscribe for free updates on any Snowfall cancellation and renewal news.
