The humble television game show has experienced something of a renaissance the last few years, largely due to the Alphabet Network’s reboot of several classic formats. Although FOX programs fewer hours per week, it is also keeping a toe in these unscripted waters. Enter the Spin the Wheel TV show. Can the first season prove itself to be a Nielsen ratings race winner? Will Spin the Wheel be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A FOX high-stakes game hosted by Dax Shepard, Spin the Wheel gives contestants the opportunity to win over $20 million per episode. To play, contestants answer pop culture trivia questions. With each correct answer, the players get to add another prize wedge to the wheel, but each incorrect answer brings with it a wedge that puts their winnings in jeopardy. As they progress, they must choose to either walk away with the prize money in their bank, or risk the entire thing to spin the wheel another time.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/6 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Spin the Wheel TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on FOX?
*Status update: FOX has apparently canceled the Spin the Wheel TV show so there won’t be a second season.
