St. Denis Medical is headed to NBC. The peacock network has ordered the new single-camera comedy series starring Wendi McLendon-Covey. Her ABC sitcom, The Goldbergs, ended last month after 10 seasons.
Also starring David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Mekki Leeper, and Kahyun Kim, the new series is a “mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where the dedicated doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity.”
The comedy is created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin. Spitzer created Superstore and American Auto while Ledgin has written on both NBC series and others. Ruben Fleischer directed the pilot.
There’s been no decision on the future of American Auto but a decision is expected soon. Fellow established comedies Grand Crew and Young Rock have both been cancelled.
A premiere date for the new St. Denis Medical comedy series will be announced later. Considering the ongoing writers strike, the show’s not expected to debut until 2024.
