Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy’s Star TV show on FOX has lost another showrunner. Charles Pratt Jr. has left the FOX music business series. The first season finale, “Showtime,” just aired last night. Deadline reports the production is already searching for a replacement.

A drama series following three young singers as they navigate the cut-throat music business, Star stars Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady, and Quincy Brown. Recurring cast members include Lenny Kravitz, Chad James Buchanan, Naomi Campbell, Tyrese Gibson, and Jasmine Burke. Missy Elliot and Paris Jackson guest starred in season one.

Chuck Pratt Leaves Star TV Show on FOX After One Season

Pratt took the show-running reins from Charles Murray, who exited Star in September of 2016, ahead of the December series premiere, reportedly over creative differences. According to THR, Pratt only ever planned to stay with the FOX TV series for season one.

As reported when he joined the series, Pratt was formerly head writer on The Young and the Restless. His other daytime dramas include General Hospital, as well as cancelled soaps All My Children and Santa Barbara.

Pratt developed The Lying Game, which ran in primetime for two seasons before being cancelled by (then) ABC Family, in 2013. He has also written for other primetime TV shows including: Twisted, Ugly Betty, Titans, Melrose Place, Models Inc., and Life Goes On.

Star was renewed for a second season, last month.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Star TV series? Why do you think it has gone through two showrunners in just one season?
