Star Trek: The Next Generation: Wil Wheaton was in the Star Trek Movie?

Star Trek movieThe JJ Abrams-directed Star Trek movie includes several allusions and tips of the hat to its predecessors. Aside from Leonard Nimoy, there are cameo appearances by numerous Trek veterans of the past. Actor Wil Wheaton has just revealed that he’s one of them.

It seems that Wheaton, who’s best known to Trek fans for playing Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation, did some voice work on the movie. As he tells it, the job came about through text messaging with Abrams’ friend Greg Grunberg.

Wheaton says he had a great time and recorded about three pages of dialogue on an ADR soundstage with Abrams. He provided all of the voices for the Romulans on Nero’s ship, including the one who tells the villain “it’s time” at the start of the movie.

While much of his voice work has been altered with digital effects, one line is very clearly Wheaton’s voice. It can be heard at the end of this clip that a TrekMovie reader posted.
