[SPOILER WARNING] The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Suits TV series showrunner Aaron Korsh about the season five finale. Because USA Network has already renewed the show, talk turned to the upcoming sixth season of Suits.
In the fifth season finale, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) cut a deal for that would see him sentenced to two years, in order to save Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Jessica (Gina Torres) from going to prison.
When asked if there was going to be a time jump, Korsh said although they talked about it, he decided since they were going through with the arrest storyline, they should see it through. The season six premiere will come back to the same night as the season five finale. Korsh says, “The entire episode as is currently contemplated takes place with Mike’s first night in prison and the first night back at the firm when they’ve come back and it’s empty.”
THR also asked if Wendell Pierce’s Robert Zane would be featured more in Suits‘ sixth season. Pierce plays Teddy on the CBS sitcom, The Odd Couple. Korsh said it is hard to plan for his character without knowing his availability ahead of time. If and when Pierce’s schedule opens up, Suits will find a way to work him into season six.
Korsh laid out the focus of the season six premiere, for THR. “What are they going to do based on this whole thing happening? Are they going to shatter, or are they going to come together and start fresh?”
Korsh says the sixth season will be about “moving forward.” It will look at how Mike deals with being in prison, and what his time there will do to his relationships, adding, “As for the other five, what happens when the two pillars of their existence — Mike and the firm — have been knocked out?”
