It looks like Supergirl fans will be seeing a lot less Maggie Sawyer. TVLine reports Floriana Lima will not be returning as a series regular for season three of the CW TV show.
Lima joined the DC series in season two as Detective Maggie Sawyer. The cast also includes Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, Floriana Lima, and Chris Wood.
Though Lima will not be a regular on Supergirl, she will apparently return for a few episodes of season three. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg released this statement:
We adore Floriana and have loved working with her to tell this inspiring story. Although she’s not available to us as a series regular next season, as she’s looking to pursue other opportunities, we’re happy she’ll be returning for multiple episodes in Season 3.”
Lima isn’t the only cast member set to recur in season three. Earlier, we reported former regular Calista Flockhart will also not be returning to the The CW series full time. Season three of Supergirl is slated to debut this fall.
