Supernatural: Stars Talk About Their Hopes for the Last Episode

Supernatural TV show on The CW: stars discuss ending the show: season 12 (canceled or renewed?)

Should the Supernatural TV show ever reach its end on The CW (not that it seems likely), stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have one wish. They want creator Eric Kripke to return to write the series finale. The actors have previously said they want the spooky drama thriller to reach 300 episodes. That would take the show midway through a fourteenth season. Season 12 just kicked off, so we have a while to plan.

TV Line quotes Padalecki as saying, “I don’t like to say, ‘When the show ends,’ because the show’s not going to end. But when the show does start to wrap down, I would love to see Eric come back and give his opinion. Because he created us in the first place, so it would be an honor.” Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard also star.

Will Creator Eric Kripke Return to Write the Supernatural TV Series Finale?

The report also quotes Ackles as saying, “It would be a nice little bow on top of the whole thing [to] have Eric take us out.” Oh, boys. He’s been trying to take you out since the Supernatural TV series premiere.

Remember, Kripke left the show after its fifth season finale, “Swan Song,” which felt like a series finale. He went on to create Revolution. NBC cancelled the sci-fi drama in 2014, after two seasons. His most recent series, Timeless, kicked off — also on NBC — on October 3rd of this year.

When the news outlet asked Kripke about returning for the Supernatural TV series finale, he cracked, “When I’m 90?” Kripke gets it. We don’t yet know if Supernatural is mortal. We’re digging in at the Men of Letters’ lair and doing our research. Too bad Bobby (Jim Beaver) is dead. Maybe Castiel (Misha Collins) can reach out to him, in heaven.

Regarding who writes the Supernatural TV series finale, should there ever be one, Ackles made sure to tell TV Line, “As long as it’s not Jared, I’m OK with it.”

What do you think? Are you an Eric Kripke fan? Do you want him to collaborate on the Supernatural TV series finale? How do you hope Supernatural ends?
