The Frame: The CW Cancels New Reality Series Plans

Frame TV show canceledAt last May’s upfronts, The CW announced plans for a new reality competition series called The Frame. Those plans have now been cancelled.

The TV show was to pit 10 teams of two against one another as they each lived in a stripped down version of their living spaces. For up to eight weeks, viewers would be able to see how the pairs interact with one another. Their homes would be cut off from the outside world but would have plasma televisions and communication devices that would allow the pairs to communicate with other teams.

The Frame teams would take part in outrageous challenges, punishments, head-to-head competitions, and eliminations. With webcams streaming live content, this bi-weekly television show would allow viewers to watch and vote on many elements of the show — from rewards to punishments to eliminations.

A couple months later, network president Mark Pedowitz confirmed the TV series order and said that they were making a commitment for eight weeks and 16 installments.

The Frame never appeared on The CW’s midseason or summer schedule however. The Futon Critic has now confirmed that the network has dropped their plans to produce the series. No episodes were ever produced.

What do you think? Would you have been interested in watching The Frame? Does it remind you of any other reality shows?
