Season three won’t be the last for The Last Man on Earth. Recently, FOX announced they’ve renewed the TV show for a fourth season.
A comedy series, The Last Man on Earth follows Phil Miller (Will Forte), a man who believes he is the last human on Earth after a deadly virus has devastated the planet. The FOX cast also includes Kristen Schaal, January Jones, Mel Rodriguez, Mary Steenburgen, and Cleopatra Coleman.
A renewal for The Last Man on Earth is a little bit surprising given the show’s low ratings. Overall, season three earned an average rating of .91 in the 18-49 demo and only 2.164 million viewers, making it one of FOX’s least-watched TV series for the 2016-2017 season.
Perhaps FOX has picked up The Last Man on Earth for another season so it can wrap up the story properly. Earlier, creator and star Will Forte did mention that the season three finale was not meant to be a series finale.
