What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, The Tick TV show’s cast includes Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, Scott Speiser, Jackie Earle Haley, Ryan Woodle, Kahlil Ashanti, Paul Moon, John Pirkis, and Joshua Schubart. It takes place in a world where superheroes have been real for many many years. The story begins as a nebbish and nervous accountant, Arthur Everest (Newman), develops a theory that The City is being secretly run by The Terror (Haley), a horrific global super villain who’s been believed to be dead for years. As Arthur struggles to uncover more evidence to support this conspiracy, he meets and falls in league with a strange (sometimes clueless) blue superhero named The Tick (Serafinowicz). Together, they begin an adventure that’s filled with crazy super villains, dangerous vigilantes, and freakish superheroes.
On January 17, 2018, The Tick was renewed for a second season which will debut April 5, 2019. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Unless Amazon releases streaming numbers it’s difficult to know if The Tick is a success for the company and will be cancelled or renewed for a second season. Flying a bit blind (like Arthur without his glasses), I suspect that the series will be renewed. Amazon has put a lot of money into launching the show and it’s one of their higher-profile projects. I’ll update this post as we have more information. Subscribe to receive free updates and alerts.
1/5 update: A second season renewal is looking quite likely. Amazon has included The Tick in its list of its most popular TV shows. Details here.
