CBS has had some great success with reality TV series, like Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Big Brother, and now they’re expanding their reach in the genre with a new competitive reality series. Enter The World’s Best TV show. Does the talent competition have the chops to take it the Tiffany Network to the top of the Nielsen ratings? A CBS talent competition from creators Mike Darnell and Mark Burnett, The World’s Best is hosted by James Corden, with Drew Barrymore, RuPaul Charles, and Faith Hill serving as the American judges. Elite acts from around the world must impress those judges and a mega-panel of 50 international experts from every corner of the entertainment business, known as the “wall of the world.” The winner is crowned “The World’s Best” and earns a $1 million dollar prize.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly on the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
