Regina Taylor has been cast to co-star in Kevin Williamson’s Time After Time TV series pilot at ABC. Freddie Stroma, Josh Bowman, and Genesis Rodriguez were previously cast. Taylor played Molly Blane on The Unit, a military drama cancelled by CBS after four seasons.
Per Deadline, Taylor plays billionaire businesswoman Vanessa Anders. Anders is the owner and keeper of the time machine. The character is described, thusly: “Confident and strong, she has a warm welcoming smile, but make no mistake, she’s also a respected, sometimes feared CEO.”
According to the Deadline report, Time After Time is inspired by Karl Alexander’s 1979 novel, as well as the movie starring Malcolm McDowell. Time After Time features the adventures of a young H.G. Wells.
UnReal‘s Stroma was cast in the Wells role in mid-February. Soon after, Revenge‘s Bowman joined as Jack the Ripper. Rodgriguez, who has mostly worked in film, was cast earlier this week, as Jane Walker, a museum curator who fascinates H.G. Wells, when he lands in modern New York.
ABC ordered the Time After Time pilot back in late January. Williamson is writing and executive producing. Marcos Siega is set to direct, while Warner Bros. TV is the studio. The project is reportedly shooting in New York City.
Time After Time isn’t the only time-travel themed pilot. NBC ordered the Time TV series pilot, from The Shield‘s Shawn Ryan and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke. Game of Thrones‘ Neil Marshall is already set to direct that sci-fi action-adventure project.
Abigail Spencer plays the female lead role, Lucy Preston, in NBC’s Time pilot, opposite Matt Lanter (character name unknown). It has been widely described as “Back to the Future meets Mission: Impossible.”
