Unforgettable: Cancelled Yet Again; No Season Five on A&E

Unforgettable TV show on A&E: canceled, no season 5It looks like the clock has run out on the Unforgettable TV show for real this time. A&E has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering season five.

Unforgettable follows Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a police detective who has hyperthymesia — a rare medical condition that gives her the ability to visually remember everything. She works with Al Burns (Dylan Walsh) and other members of the Major Crimes team of the NYPD to track down the city’s most nefarious criminals. The rest of season four’s cast includes Alani Anthony, Kathy Najimy, and E.J. Bonilla.

The series began on CBS and was cancelled after one season but the network later reversed their decision. They renewed Unforgettable for a second season and later, for a third.

The network cancelled the show again in October 2014 but A&E revived the series five months later and ordered a fourth season of 13 episodes. They started airing in November and concluded in January, averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 740,000 viewers. Compared to season three’s ratings, these were down about 87%.

The ratings for Unforgettable were expected to be lower for its run on cable but it’s unlikely that A&E expected them to be that low. The cable channel ended up airing the final four episodes in one night, seemingly an attempt to just get rid of them.

Sony TV, which produces the series, isn’t expected to make any efforts to revive the series this time around. Cast contracts have reportedly already expired and some, Montgomery included, are considering new series pilots.

What do you think? Did you like the Unforgettable TV show? Did you watch on A&E? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
