As reported January 11, the Mari McCabe character in CW Seed’s animated Vixen TV series, is crossing over to the live-action Arrow TV series on the CW. Megalyn Echikunwoke, who voices the animated character will fill the live-action role on Arrow.
The CW has released art featuring Echikunwoke, check it out, above. She will appear on the Arrow episode, “Taken,” Wednesday, February 24, at 8:00pm. There is no information yet released on how Stephen Amell’s Oliver will meet up with McCabe.
As we mentioned in our prior report, Vixen is an animated spin-off of The Flash and Arrow. It is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. McCabe can harness the abilities of animals, because of her family’s Tantu totem.

We’ve seen her animated series, but Megalyn Echikunwoke’s Vixen is clawing her way into live action on Arrow!
That’s Megalyn Echikunwoke as the live action iteration of Mari McCabe, better known around these parts as Vixen. First appearing on CW Seed’s digital animated series of the same name, Vixen will be appearing in live action for the very first time this year on Arrow.
A street smart model who inherits a mysterious family heirloom that grants her the powers of the animal kingdom, Mari first met Green Arrow and the Flash during the debut season of her series, but fans won’t have to wait until the second season of Vixen debuts to see her reunite with at least one half of that superheroic duo. Look for Vixen to appear in the Episode 15 of Arrow, which is entitled “Taken.”

Vixen is the first female superhero of color to headline her own show, albeit in animated form, and during a recent discussion about diversity at The CW’s presentation for the Television Critics Association winter press tour, CW president Mark Pedowitz floated the possibility that the character had the potential to “spin itself out” into a live-action series, or, “if not, join as one of the ‘Legends.’”
