Former Cheers barflys George Wendt and John Ratzenberger are returning to NBC for the Last Comic Standing reality show. They’ll be traveling to Nashville to help audition talent for the competition. The episode airs tomorrow night, June 12th.
Sarah Paulson (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) has been signed to star opposite Bobby Cannavale (Will & Grace) in ABC’s remake of Cupid. She’ll play psychiatrist Claire Allen, the role Paula Marshall played in the original 1990s series. In addition, Rick Gomez (What About Brian) has been cast as the owner of a struggling Manhattan bar who rents a room to Cannavale’s Trevor Hale.
It looks like there’s going to be a little Veronica Mars reunion next fall on NBC. Francis Capra will be playing a baddie by the name of Jesse on Heroes. We don’t know much else about him at this point except that he’ll cross paths with Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia). This likely means that he’ll have a run-in or two with former Veronica castmate Kristen Bell at some point.
Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) is headed back to HBO for another NYC sex-themed single-camera comedy. She’ll star in and executive produce the Sensitive Skin series, based on a UK show of the same name. Skin follows a middle-aged wife and mom who rediscovers her sexuality and begins to question her place in the world. It’s being written and executive produced by Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green, veterans of The Sopranos. The new series falls under a development deal Cattrall made with HBO when she signed on for the Sex and the City movie.
John Stamos (Jake in Progress, currently ER) is committed to star in and produce an original movie for Lifetime. Killing Mr. Kissel is based on the true story about two multimillionaire brothers who married the women of their dreams and wound up dead. Gretchen Egolf (Journeyman) and Anson Mount (Conviction) also star in the movie which is scheduled to premiere in November.
Jonathan Tucker (The Black Donnellys) has signed on to star opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) in an indie drama. In Veronika Decides to Die, Tucker will play a mental patient who develops a relationship with Gellar’s character. The movie’s based on a novel by Paulo Coelho.
David Monahan (Crossing Jordan) has been booked for a three-episode storyline on CBS’ new Swingtown series. Monahan will play a co-worker of Janet Thompson, a character played by Miriam Shor (Big Day).
Scout Taylor-Compton (Charmed) has landed a role in Screen Gems’ Obsessed film. The movie follows a successful professional man who finds his idyllic life threatened by a temp turned stalker. Others on the project include Christine Lahti (Jack & Bobby), Jerry O’Connell (Carpoolers), Ron Rogg? (Fashion House), and Meredith Roberts (Help Me Help You). Stay tuned!
