Where Are They Now? Some Greenroom Chatter for September 29, 2008

The new Fall season is finally here. There are lots of new shows and even more series that are returning. The networks are hyping them all as the best of the best but, in the next few weeks, they’ll start cutting those that haven’t lived up to expectations. What happens to the performers from shows that have ended? Well, here’s where you’ll be able to find some of them.

Bridget Moynahan, last seen on Six Degrees, is joining the cast of another ABC show, Eli Stone. She’ll be playing the title character’s girlfriend. There’s no word on how long she’ll be sticking around.

Comedian Zach Galifianakis (Tru Calling) has landed a couple of lead roles. He’ll co-star with Bradley Cooper (Alias) and Ed Helms (The Office) in The Hangover, a comedy from Warner Bros. The three play best friends at a Las Vegas bachelor party who lose the groom shortly before the nuptials. In the HBO pilot Bored to Death, Galifianakis will play a struggling comic book artist whose best friend is a writer who pretends to be a private detective. Ted Danson (Help Me Help You) also stars.

Jordan Belfi (Moonlight) is slated to star in an upcoming independent film called Christina. Belfi recently filmed a role in The Surrogates movie with Bruce Willis (Moonlighting), Valerie Azlynn (Welcome to the Captain), and Michael Cudlitz (Standoff). Belfi was most recently seen on HBO’s Entourage.

Ed McMahon (The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson) will star in two viral rap videos for FreeCreditReport.com, a financial Web site owned by the Experian credit bureau. The videos will feature McMahon being chauffeured around Los Angeles in a golf cart and talking about his recent financial problems. The company says that they hired McMahon after seeing him talk about his money woes with Larry King.

Boston Legal is winding down and series creator David E. Kelly seems to be pulling out all the stops for the final episodes. Valerie Bertinelli (One Day at a Time) will guest star in an episode Kelley wrote specifically for her. She’ll play a cattle rancher who’s dealing with mad cow disease. Legal veterans Julie Bowen (Ed) and Rene Auberjonois (Benson) are returning to the series for guest shots in the 10th episode. The special appearances are scheduled for the November sweeps.

Kari Matchett (Invasion) has booked a recurring role on Crash, the new TV series based on the 2005 movie. She’ll play a CEO of a music company and the daughter of a character played by Dennis Hopper (E-Ring). The series will debut on the Starz channel sometime this season.

Matt Borlenghi (Police Academy) is joining the cast of NBC’s venerable soap opera Days of Our Lives. He’ll be playing the mayor of Salem.

Lisa Kudrow (Friends) has been signed to star in an Internet-only series for L Studio, an online channel from Lexus. In Web Theory, Kudrow will play psychotherapist Fiona Wallice who conducts three-minute sessions via the Internet. She juggles five different clients in 15 episodes. The clients will be played by stars like including those played by Bob Balaban (Seinfeld), Jane Lynch (Help Me Help You), Rashida Jones (Unhitched), and Tim Bagley (The King of Queens). Stay tuned!
