Last year the World of Dance TV show on NBC was renewed for a third season, before the sophomore cycle even began, then the show proceeded to drop off sharply in the Nielsen ratings. Now that it is back for season three, without Jenna Dewan, can it regain its firm foot and ensure another whirl with the Peacock Network? Will World of Dance be cancelled or renewed for season four? An NBC dance competition series, the third season of World of Dance is hosted by Scott Evans, with Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, and Ne-Yo judging the performances. The series showcases dancers competing for a grand prize of $1,000,000. Elite solo dancers, partners, and full dance crews compete against each other in multiple categories of dance, including hip-hop, tap, ballet, break dancing, ballroom dancing, and stomping.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The second season of World of Dance on NBC averaged a 1.24 rating in the 18-49 year old demo and 5.634 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
